These Terms of Use ("Terms") govern your use of the Subtextly mobile application and related services operated by Subtextly ("we", "our", "us"). By downloading, installing, or using Subtextly, you agree to these Terms.
1. Description of Service
Subtextly is a media literacy tool that analyses screenshots of social media posts, news articles, and online content for bias, framing, balance, and source quality. The app provides AI-generated assessments to help users think critically about the content they consume.
2. Analysis Disclaimer
Subtextly's analysis is informational only. Our AI-powered assessments are designed to encourage critical thinking, not to provide definitive judgments about truth or falsehood. Analysis results may contain inaccuracies and should not be relied upon as the sole basis for any decisions. We do not guarantee the accuracy, completeness, or reliability of any analysis.
3. Acceptable Use
You agree to use Subtextly only for its intended purpose — analysing publicly visible content for media literacy. You agree not to:
- Use the service to harass, defame, or target individuals
- Attempt to reverse-engineer, decompile, or extract our analysis models
- Use automated tools to submit bulk analysis requests
- Circumvent usage limits or subscription restrictions
- Use the service for any unlawful purpose
4. Subscriptions and Payments
Free tier: Subtextly offers 3 free analyses per day at no cost.
Subtextly Pro: A premium subscription that provides unlimited daily analyses. Available as:
- Monthly: $3.99 USD per month
- Annual: $29.99 USD per year (equivalent to $2.50/month)
Auto-renewal: Subscriptions automatically renew unless cancelled at least 24 hours before the end of the current billing period.
Payment: Payment is charged to your Apple ID account at confirmation of purchase.
Cancellation: You can manage or cancel your subscription at any time through your device's Settings > Apple ID > Subscriptions. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period.
Refunds: Refund requests are handled by Apple in accordance with their refund policies.
5. Intellectual Property
The Subtextly app, including its design, code, analysis algorithms, and branding, is the intellectual property of Subtextly. You may not copy, modify, distribute, or create derivative works based on our service.
Analysis results generated by Subtextly are provided for your personal use. You may share analysis cards generated by the app, provided you do not misrepresent them or remove attribution.
6. Limitation of Liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, Subtextly shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising from your use of the service. Our total liability shall not exceed the amount you have paid for the service in the 12 months preceding the claim.
Subtextly is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, including warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, or non-infringement.
7. Content You Submit
When you submit a screenshot for analysis, you represent that you have the right to share that content with our service for processing. We do not claim ownership of any content you submit. As described in our Privacy Policy, submitted screenshots are processed in real-time and not retained.
8. Termination
We reserve the right to suspend or terminate your access to Subtextly at any time if you violate these Terms or use the service in a manner that could harm us or other users.
9. Changes to Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. Continued use of Subtextly after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.
10. Governing Law
These Terms are governed by the laws of Hong Kong Special Administrative Region. Any disputes shall be resolved in the courts of Hong Kong.
