Subtextly ("we", "our", "us") operates the Subtextly mobile application and the subtextly.io website. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and protect your information.
1. Information We Collect
Screenshots you submit for analysis: When you use Subtextly to analyze a screenshot, the image is sent to our backend API for processing. We extract text and metadata from the image to perform our analysis. Screenshots are processed in real-time and are not stored on our servers after the analysis is complete.
Analysis history: Your past analyses are stored locally on your device using on-device storage. We do not have access to your analysis history.
Subscription information: If you subscribe to Subtextly Pro, your purchase is processed through Apple's App Store. We use RevenueCat to manage subscription status. We receive anonymised subscription status information (whether you have an active subscription) but do not receive your payment details.
Usage data: We track the number of daily scans you perform to enforce the free tier limit (3 scans per day). This count is stored locally on your device.
2. How We Use Your Information
- To perform AI-powered bias and framing analysis on screenshots you submit
- To manage your subscription status and enforce usage limits
- To improve our analysis algorithms and service quality
3. Third-Party Services
We use the following third-party services:
- RevenueCat — Subscription and in-app purchase management. RevenueCat Privacy Policy
- AI Analysis Providers — We use large language model APIs to perform content analysis. Submitted text is processed according to each provider's data usage policies and is not used to train models.

4. Data Retention
- Screenshots: Not retained. Processed in real-time and discarded immediately after analysis.
- Extracted text: Not retained on our servers after the analysis response is returned.
- Analysis results: Stored only on your device. You can delete your history at any time from the app's Settings screen.
- Subscription data: Managed by RevenueCat and Apple. Retained as long as your account exists.
5. Data Security
All communication between the Subtextly app and our servers is encrypted using HTTPS/TLS. We do not store personal data on our servers beyond what is necessary to process your request in real-time.
6. Your Rights
You have the right to:
- Delete your data: Clear your analysis history at any time from Settings. Since we don't store your data server-side, there is nothing to delete on our end.
- Access your data: Your analysis history is available in the History tab of the app.
- Opt out: You can stop using the app at any time. Uninstalling the app removes all locally stored data.
7. Children's Privacy
Subtextly is rated 4+ and does not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. The app analyses publicly visible social media content and does not require account creation or personal information.
8. No Advertising or Tracking
Subtextly does not display advertisements, does not use advertising SDKs, and does not track you across apps or websites. We do not sell or share your data with third parties for marketing purposes.
9. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of significant changes by posting the new policy on this page and updating the effective date.
